Why AccordBoreal exists
Accurate information about consent, the law and support services is scattered across hundreds of websites, in different formats, and often in only one official language. AccordBoreal brings it together in plain language, in English and French, for everyone in Canada.
The name says what we stand for. Accord is the same word in both official languages, and it means agreement, which is exactly what consent is. Boréal is the northern forest that stretches across the country.

What this site is, and isn't
- It's general information, written to be accurate and easy to understand.
- It isn't legal, medical or clinical advice. For advice about your situation, talk to a lawyer, a health professional or a sexual assault centre.
- It isn't a crisis service. If you're in danger, call 9-1-1 (in Nunavut, dial the first three digits of the local number, then 1111). For support right now, see the crisis and support lines.
Privacy
This site doesn't use cookies, analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or third-party scripts, and it doesn't ask for any personal information. Fonts and images load from this site only, and links to other sites don't tell them which page you came from.
The Leave this page button, and pressing Esc twice, take you straight to the Government of Canada weather site and replace the current page in your browser's history. Other pages you opened here stay in your history, so clear it afterward if that matters to you.
Your browser, your internet provider, and anyone with access to your device can still see that you visited, and like most websites, the server that hosts this site may keep basic technical logs. See browsing more safely.
Accessibility
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. The site works with a keyboard and with screen readers, respects your device's reduced-motion setting, and adapts to small screens and large text.
If something gets in your way, email hello@accordboreal.ca and tell us which page and what happened.
How we check our information
Facts on this site come from Statistics Canada, federal and provincial laws, decisions of the Supreme Court of Canada, federal health agencies, published research, and the organizations that run the services we list. Each page lists its sources at the bottom.
Phone numbers and hours were checked against each service's own website or an official government page in September 2026. If you find something out of date, please tell us.
